What eye shadow colors should darker women avoid?

When ever I see celebrities wearing the smokey eye, I try to apply it...but the grey just looks too harsh. And I don't think that blue works on me either.

What are some colors that not only I, but women or darker skin colors should stay away from? What eye shadow colors should darker women avoid?
The darker your skin tone, the more colors you can wear. With darker skin you don't really have to worry as much about colors that bring out unflattering colors like yellowness or redness. One thing that darker skinned women SHOULD be careful about is that some colors can look really chalky and some aren't opaque enough to really show their true color. You can fix most of those problems with a good base to help emphasize the color. If you're wondering about the grey or blue eyeshadow not looking great on you, it might be due to the undertones of your skin (the coolness or warmness) but I can definitely show you pictures of dark skinned women with grey or blue eyeshadow if you want some inspiration.

PS -- the only colors that I've never been a big fan of on darker skinned women have been pastels because sometimes they give the appearance of chalkiness.

Good luck! What eye shadow colors should darker women avoid?
do not use yellow!!!!!!! try a plum or green, it really depends on what color your eyes are, ALMAY has came up with a new product called play up the eyes and the have it for each eye color, i have green eyes so i use maroon eyeliner plum eyeshadow on my lid, in the crease i were dark green and on the top to the brow i wear a very faint green!!

maroon eyeshdow would look very nice.
