I have a 3 Month old Dachshund Puppy, that is technically a red, and comes from a Dapple mother. He has brown eyes (for the most part), but a couple of days ago the sun caught his eyes and I noticed something weird, I thought he had injured his eye but upon closer inspection I noticed that his one of his eyes had a streak of blue going through it.
I didn't notice this when I got him, and I was pretty sure it wasn't there before but after some research it says that the eyes can't change from brown to blue.
Is it possible for this to happen? If the puppy has dapple genetics, or is this something I just didn't notice when I picked him out?Question about puppy eye color?
probably just his eyes changing. my pug's eyes started out blue and changed to brown. if he's not acting like something is wrong with his eye (pawing at it excessively or it watering excessively) don't worry about it. Question about puppy eye color?
its probabley nothing, but i would call your vet and ask just to be completley sure.
Better safe then sorry!!!

Dachshunds are known to carry the traits required for blue eyes. Many Dachsies have Bi-Coloured eyes (or parti). It's nothing to worry about.
yes its very possible for dogs eyes to change color.
for example, siberian huskys' eyes can be one color as a puppy, but as they get older, they can be parti-eyed (multiple colors).
