Newborn Kitten Eye Color?

I remember when my parents cat had kittens all of their eyes were blue at first and then changed to brown later. I read that all kittens have blue eyes at first, however my newborn kittens just opened their eyes about a week ago and they are dark brown or black. Is this normal? Also one of the kittens is a lot whinier then the others and cries every time you pick him up. Is this just his personality and what can I do to help?Newborn Kitten Eye Color?
Their eyes will lighten as they get older, usually to blue by 4-5 weeks then green or amber by 12-14 weeks.

As long as the the kitten only cries when you pick him up i wouldn't worry, they all have individual personalities and some do moan more than others especially when they are first starting to be handled!

The time to worry is if he is crying all the time or when he is nursing.

Good on you for taking on this extended family and good luck xNewborn Kitten Eye Color?
My kitten is nearly 6 weeks old and had black eyes when she opened them at about 10 days. They gradually lightened to blue and then the white started to come in around them. They make her look really cute. I think you are a kind person for taking in the cat, its a shame people assume the worst. I rescued two from a respected cat home with a certificate to say they had been spayed and six months later one gave bith.
I think most kittens do have light eyes when born. I would keep an eye on the one that is whining. They usually only do that if they are hungry, cold, painful or have some need not being met. If you can't figure it out then I would call your Vet.

Good luck.
No, don't worry it's normal. although I must agree that it's pretty wierd. as for the little kitten, it's his personality.
ya it is normal, and well dont do anything for the kitten and if it keeps doing that then take it to the Vet
yes its normal and the one who whines a lot is probably the runt of the litter
i think youre nice for taking it in rather than letting it live homeless and have babies where they wouldve all been eaten or killed by another animal...

anyway, ive heard all kittens have blue eyes, but it should be normal. if the other one keeps doing that, take him to a vet. but you arent supposed to touvh them at first, are you? my friends cat had kittens and she was told dont touch them when theyre born or the mom might kill them, (yes, like hamsters and mice) but idk if thats true cuz i know a lot of people who hold kittens. is the one crying the smallest? try not picking him/her up unless you have to (to feed it or something) it might be in pain if you pick it up. if it doesnt stop in a couple days id take it to the vet monday.
They probably are just a very dark blue it's not really easy to tell color when they've JUST opened their eyes.

Why isn't your cat spayed? Each kitten you allow her to bring into this world means another cat or kitten at your local shelter put to death since you're taking homes from them. Please be responsible and get this cat spayed. And PLEASE get the kittens spayed BEFORE you give them away or odds are they're just going to bred as well - and you'll end up responsible for possibly hundreds - if not thousands of kittens if they - and their kittens - continue to breed. Do you want that many animals put to death at animals soley because of YOU?

Edit: that doesn't mean you shouldn't be responsible and spay her and the kittens before they go out. So my comments stand.
